We’re thrilled that you’re considering welcoming one of our sanctuary animals into your home! Every adoption helps make room for us to rescue and rehabilitate more animals in need. That said, we have a few important guidelines to ensure that all our animals find safe, loving, and forever homes.

🚫 No Rabbit Adoptions Before Easter or Christmas

We do not adopt out any rabbits in the weeks leading up to Easter or Christmas.
Here’s why:
📉 Over 80% of rabbits given as Easter gifts will die or be abandoned within their first year.
This isn’t just about good homes—it’s a matter of life or death. Rabbits are not starter pets, seasonal novelties, or toys. They require specialized care, long-term commitment, and a deep understanding of their needs. We’re committed to giving them that—and ensuring adopters are too.

🛟 No-Questions-Asked Return Policy

We get it—sometimes life changes.
If at any point you are no longer able to care for an animal adopted from Mallards Landing Sanctuary, we ask that you return the animal to us.
No guilt. No judgment. No questions asked.
This ensures that every animal remains safe, well cared for, and out of harm’s way.

🐥 Female Ducks Stay Put

At this time, we do not adopt out female ducks.
Why? Because we regularly have an overwhelming number of drakes (male ducks), and we work hard to maintain a healthy, humane balance between drakes and females. Unbalanced flocks can lead to injury or worse, and the welfare of our birds always comes first.

🐾 Pets Only—Not For Eating

All animals adopted from the Sanctuary are placed as pets only, not as livestock for meat.
If you are seeking meat rabbits, ducks, chickens, or geese, we’re happy to connect you with responsible breeders and farms who specialize in meat animals. But our rescued animals have already been through enough—they’ve earned a cozy retirement.

🧒 Kids Who Care Get Discounts

We love seeing kids fall in love with farm life!
Children who volunteer at the Sanctuary to learn about their chosen animal before adopting are eligible for special adoption discounts.
We believe in education, connection, and building compassion—and this is one small way we encourage it.

❤️ Final Notes

All adoptions are handled with care. We’ll work with you to ensure the animal and your home are a good fit, and we’re always here for support and questions—even years down the road.
